Ellesmere Friday 2 June 2017

Last night we ate in the Jack Mytton as we were moored outside on their mooring and I must say the pie was first class, lovely flavour and tender lean meat. The desert I had was, on the large side a big bowl of crumble with a jug of custard that was piping hot. We have never been there before as the place looks shut and rundown from the canal and when you consider probably 90% + of the diners came off boats I think they may be missing a trick here.

This morning it was raining but by 10AM it had cleared out so we set off. One of the reoccurring points today was boats coming in the other direction who were hard aground. The latter part of out journey was quite slow but not a dawdle when we caught up with other boats. At Ellesmere we turned down the arm and moored in one of the spaces about half way down for a visit to the town. A pie from the deli and several jigsaws and 3 juice glasses from one of the charity shops before ending up in Tesco. Back to the boat for lunch and it started drizzling but once it eased we were off again to moor just before Ellesmere Tunnel. A short day. The other point of note in today's travels was that we passed Saturn and Buckden again, this time they were moored upDSCF8107

Today's Journey map 146.6 miles in 2¾ hours
